Shortlisted taste finalists revealed in Wales the True Taste Food & Drink Awards 2011

Now, after months of tough taste-testing, the sweet smell of success is getting closer for the shortlisted taste finalists of this year’s True Taste Food and Drink Awards.

Managed by the Welsh Assembly Government in accordance with successful organic dairy, Rachel’s, the annual awards recognise and reward achievement in the Welsh food and drink sector and raise awareness of the variety of local produce on offer throughout Wales.

In the words of Alun Davies, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, “The shortlisted taste finalists demonstrate the tremendous variety of products and skills of those working in the food and drink sector in Wales.”

This year saw 1,016 entries from 366 companies in the overall contest, with 67 shortlisted taste category finalists (see below for a full list).

Mr. Davies explained that the shortlisted finalists of the remaining categories, such as Eating Out, would be announced soon, adding that the awards ceremony will be “an exciting occasion.”

Based in North Wales for the first time, at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, the ceremony will be held on 20th October 2011. The category winners will be announced, with gold, silver and bronze awards being presented. Sixteen categories are in place to cater for all areas of the food and drink production, retail and hospitality sectors.

The ceremony will mark the tenth anniversary of the awards, which have increased largely in popularity and significance throughout their time, now forming a vital part of the Welsh Government’s food strategy, ‘Food for Wales, Food from Wales 2010-20’.

The following is a list of the 67 taste category finalists shortlisted this year:
