If, like me, you’ve left everything until the last minute this year, perhaps you’ll appreciate these 6 Christmas gift ideas guaranteed to put a smile on foodies’ faces.
1) Scoff Club
Scoff Club is a monthly subscription box featuring a selection of retro and classic sweets like Parma Violets, Black Jacks, Bon-Bons, Foam Shrimps, Love Hearts, Rainbow Drops, Cola Cubes, Refreshers and Fried Eggs.
It costs £12.99 on a rolling monthly basis, £34.99 for three months or £69.99 when you pay for six months up-front. I love the idea of giving a Scoff Club subscription as a Christmas gift; the sweets just bring back so many nostalgic memories for me!
2) Crabtree and Evelyn Spiced Ginger Biscuits (£5, 165g)
I’m a big fan of Crabtree and Evelyn’s toiletries and fragrances, so I was very excited to hear about the fine food range they’re offering for Christmas, including biscuits, teas, preserves and confectionery.
These Spiced Ginger Biscuits have a traditional, buttery taste, infused with a subtle hint of ginger and a variety of festive spices. Best served with a hot cup of tea!
3) Crabtree and Evelyn Blackberry Green Tea (£2.50 for 10 sachets)
Also from Crabtree and Evelyn, these Blackberry Green Tea bags are tasty and refreshing. Okay, so I can think of plenty of things I’d rather be drinking this Christmas than green tea, but you’re going to need something to wake you up when you’re falling into a food coma after your Christmas dinner (or dealing with the hangover from hell after one too many festive tipples!)
4) Carluccio’s Panettone Al Cioccolato (£16.95, 1kg)
Anyone who reads my blog regularly will know that I’m a big fan of Carluccio’s Italian restaurant. I was lucky enough to meet Antonio Carluccio himself at the launch of the new Cardiff Bay branch earlier this year and I returned to the restaurant for a review a few weeks later.
In addition to serving up mouthwatering meals, Carluccio’s restaurant also offers a range of artisan Italian food products which can be purchased in-store or online and enjoyed at home. What’s more, Cardiff has recently been treated to it’s very own Carluccio’s pop-up Christmas gift shop in St David’s Centre!
This Christmas, Carluccio’s have introduced 40 seasonal products to their deli range. Carluccio’s Panettone Al Cioccolato (that’s chocolate panettone to me and you!) is made using the same recipe as traditional panettone, but with the addition of chocolate. Part bread, part cake, this panettone is made to an exclusive recipe using plump fruit, candied peel, natural yeast (from a starter dating back 100 years) and finished with a hazelnut glaze.
It looks and tastes absolutely delicious, interspersed with chunks of milk and dark chocolate and finished with a hazelnut glaze – the perfect alternative to traditional Christmas cake!
5) Carluccio’s Albero Di Cioccolato (£8.95, 200g)
Each tree is produced in Italy and imported into the UK by Carluccio’s. I sampled the milk chocolate tree, which was smooth and creamy with a well-balanced sweetness. Perfect for a stocking filler!
6) Baileys Glittering Collection Box (£9)
Produced in partnership with award-winning chocolatier Lir, Baileys’ new Christmas Chocolate Collection features three products including the Glittering Collection Box (£9), the Shimmering Star (£5) and the Golden Christmas Tree (£22).
I tried the Glittering Collection Box, which includes a selection of chocolates in five different flavours, each featuring its own unique artwork. The five flavours include Baileys Original, coffee, liquorice, popping candy and hazelnut. I can happily vouch for all five flavours, but my favourite was the popping candy – Baileys and popping candy is an unusual, yet tasty combination.
This list includes product samples that I have recently received from brands. However, not all the items I’ve been sent are featured in this post – these are the 6 products that I genuinely liked and would love to find wrapped up under my Christmas tree!
