Wales is fast becoming a highly sought-after destination for yoga retreats, thanks to its breathtaking natural scenery, affordable costs and friendly locals. From rugged cliffs and majestic mountainscapes, to charming towns surrounded by forests and rolling green hills, not to mention stunning coastlines – you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a yoga retreat in Wales.

Having previously written about my favourite Spanish yoga retreat, I’m sharing my favourite spots for a yoga retreat in Wales in 2022. To book, simply visit the link at the end of my blog post.

Where to go for a yoga retreat in Wales

Top weekend retreat: Total Body Wellness, Pembrokeshire

Head to the peaceful hills of Pembrokeshire for a weekend of holistic healing, hosted in a rustic farmhouse. This retreat includes daily Hatha yoga, sound healing, meditation and mindfulness practice, pole fitness, and a free massage with complimentary facial and personal nutritional consultation. Embrace fresh air and marvel at the gorgeous countryside, before unwinding around the fire or in the hot tub under a sky full of stars. What’s not to love?

This three-day yoga retreat is perfect for those who don’t have much free time; as it’s hosted throughout the year, you can pick the season and time of year that suits your schedule best. Great for a girls’ weekend, a solo soul journey, or even as a couples’ yoga retreat. Best of all, you can stay an extra night free of charge – now that’s great value for money!

Top adventure retreat: yoga and wild swimming, Anglesey

Up to five blissful days in a secluded country house on the Isle of Anglesey with access to a winding river, rushing waterfalls, historic gardens, and magical woodlands. Expect outdoor beach yoga and coastal picnics, restorative massages and guided wild swimming excursions to pristine lakes. Feed your body and soul with fresh air, natural adventures, sumptuous meals, and a daily combination of Hatha, Yin and Ashtanga yoga led by expert instructors.

The perfect experience for nature and water lovers, or perhaps just those wishing to step outside their comfort zone and try something new. This retreat will invigorate and inspire you with its combination of bracing physical activities and tranquil downtime, with no shortage of magical scenery, restored stone cottages and landscaped gardens to explore. The perfect retreat to rejuvenate you, in mind, body and spirit!

Best eco-retreat: Mountain Bliss Retreat, West Cambrians

A luxury eco-retreat close to Mount Snowdon offering rustic charm and modern luxuries, this is the perfect spot for a yoga retreat in Wales. Beautifully refurbished historic stone barns boast hand-crafted oak furniture, spacious, light-filled spaces, natural woven fabrics, wood-burning stoves and private hot tubs.

Meanwhile, the beguiling charms of an eco-Tipi or Mongolian Yurt provide the option for a truly special and unique stay. Indulge in Daily Hatha yoga and meditation, guided forest bathing, woodland walks, refreshing dips in forest pools, magical stargazing, a cacao ceremony, and additional Reiki healing and massage options.

The ideal retreat option for those looking to explore holistic healing and really connect with nature, you’ll love strolling along the walking paths, admiring the magnificent pines and spruce trees of Hafren Forest, along the Severn River, with shared stories around the communal fire pit to look forward to later at night. Fill up on wholesome vegan food during your stay and, who knows, you may end up converted (if you’re not already vegan) by the time you leave!

Best couples retreat: a loved-up stay at Llethrau Forest

An amazing opportunity to reconnect with one another on a deeper level in an idyllic forest setting, this retreat presents the ultimate opportunity for along time together, just the two of you. Spend time together taking part in daily yoga, breath work and nature walks through the magnificent hills, dales and woods of the Llethrau region. You’ll also be able to experience dedicated couples’ workshops, if you wish.

Whatever you decide to get up to, you’re bound to leave feeling recharged, relaxed, and nourished, equipped with tools to help you navigate both your relationship and your daily life with a more conscious, mindful and inspired approach.

Top ‘gal’s’ getaway’ retreat: girls’ replenishing retreat

Get your fave ladies together for a brilliant weekend of yoga, laughter, delicious food, playful pole fitness sessions, and complimentary massages and facials. For those looking to focus on self-development whether physically (in a health sense) or professionally, consider enrolling in the boundary management workshop, undertaking a nutritional consultation, or participating in the mindfulness and meditation practice. Fill your cup and strengthen your friendships with this restorative, fun-filled bonding experience.

Hosted in a luxuriously-renovated stone house set in two-and-a-half hectares of pristine farmlands in picturesque Pembrokeshire, this retreat is perfect for those who need to get away from it all, while having a laugh and perhaps even achieving something truly inspiring, too.

You can view and book all of these yoga retreats in Wales, as well as in many other top destinations, via the Basubu website. Personally, I’ve found this website to be invaluable in discovering new yoga retreats that meet all of my needs, in the locations I’m keen to visit. I don’t actually know of any other website that specialises solely in yoga retreat bookings, and it’s always the first place I start when I’m ready to treat myself to a relaxing getaway.

Now, all that’s left to do is place your booking, pack your suitcase (don’t forget your yoga mat – although many retreats will supply them for you) and look forward to enjoying a much-needed break!
