Spread over 7 floors in the heart of India’s so-called Pink City, Jaipur, the 5-star Holiday Inn Jaipur City Centre is the ideal place to stay if you’re looking to explore what the city has to offer. Located relatively near to the railway station, bus stand and airport, Holiday Inn Jaipur is the perfect base from which to visit Jaipur’s must-see attractions such as the Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort and the Jal Mahal (check out my upcoming post for details of Jaipur’s tourist attractions).
I stayed at Holiday Inn Jaipur for one night after visiting Agra, ahead of a tour of Jaipur the following day. By the time I checked in it was around 9pm, but the check-in process was very professional and efficient nonetheless, and my bags were kindly carried up to my room for me.
Holiday Inn Jaipur has 172 rooms in total, and my room was located on the third floor. You can request either a smoking or non-smoking room, but either way, you’ll still be able to smell the cigarette smoke wafting down the hallway. This was frustrating for me as a smoker because it made me crave a cigarette, yet I was unable to smoke in my room, and I can only imagine how unpleasant it must’ve been for non-smokers.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. My Superior Room was fantastic; it wasn’t quite as extravagant as some of the other 5-star hotels I stayed in while in India (such as Jaypee Palace Hotel, Agra and Leela Ambience, New Delhi), but it was very spacious, and the facilities and furnishings were excellent. My room benefited from decent air conditioning, a 32” LED satellite TV, free WiFi, iron and ironing board, electronic safe, tea and coffee-making facilities, complimentary mineral water, chargeable mini bar, hairdryer, shower, daily newspaper, choice of pillows (soft/firm), and a dental and shaving kit.
Meanwhile, the bathroom featured a large shower cubicle surrounded by a window facing into the bedroom, complete with blinds – a popular set-up in many luxury hotels, including most of the Indian hotel rooms I stayed in.
In addition, the bathroom was well-stocked with luxury toiletries, and included a complimentary pair of slippers and a dressing gown.
Outside the comfort of your room, you’ll find a choice of three different restaurants including Monarch (local and international cuisine), Chao (Chinese bistro restaurant) and the American Style Road House Bar & Grill.
While I didn’t have time to fit in lunch or dinner during my short stay at Holiday Inn Jaipur, I made the most of the complimentary breakfast at Monarch.
In fact, of all the hotels I stayed in whilst in India, Holiday Inn Jaipur’s take on an English breakfast was the most alike the real thing; chicken sausages aside, it was just like the Full English I enjoy tucking into when I’m at home. The kitchen was very accommodating and certain items could be cooked to order, like eggs and potato rostis.
When you’re not chilling out in your room or munching on tasty food, you can work up a sweat in the complimentary gym, go for a swim in the outdoor pool, hit the shops on the ground floor, or treat yourself to a luxury beauty treatment in the spa (chargeable). If you’re travelling on business, make the most of Holiday Inn Jaipur’s corporate facilities; including a business centre, board room, conference hall and facilities, secretarial services and executive lounge.
Currently, Superior Room rates start at 7,550 Indian Rupees (around £92) for February, when booked directly through Holiday Inn’s website. Holiday Inn Jaipur also boasts 7 Executive Suites, which contain all the benefits of Superior Rooms in addition to a living room, two pieces of laundry, weighing machine, access to the Executive Lounge, one-way airport transfer and complimentary two-hour usage of the Business Centre Board Room. For the month of February, Executive Suites cost around 12,370 Indian Rupees (£150 approx) when booked directly through Holiday Inn’s website.

India is such an experience, if you ever get the chance to go then definitely do it! With hindsight though, I wish I’d taken a friend with me. I was happy on my own, but I could have got that little bit more out of it if I was with someone else.

I totally see what you mean, I couldn’t believe I was in a Holiday Inn when I visited this hotel! The breakfast was really varied, there were pastries (probably doughnuts as well!), full English breakfast, fruit, yoghurt, continental breakfast… and they were happy to cook dishes upon request too!
