Planning a group getaway with some of your friends or family? Group travel can be a fantastic way to explore and see the world, but it’s also the kind trip that might require you to overcome a few obstacles as it can be incredibly hard to organise a group of people, especially when everyone has different wants and needs.

If the planning falls down to you, don’t book anything for your group getaway until you’ve read these top tips on how to organise a group trip:

Establishing a budget for your group getaway

When planning a group trip, the very first step is to establish a budget. This will determine where you travel to, where you stay, what you do and so on. This can be a tricky topic to bring up, so it may be helpful to have a group chat to allow everyone to discuss finances and agree upon the maximum amount you’re willing to spend.

In order to ensure that you stick to your budget and stay on top of finances both before and during your group trip, use mobile apps that allow you to split bills and expenses during your group getaway.

Making sure you have the right budget is an important part of organising a group getaway

Make your travel arrangements

The next stages of organising a group trip involve arranging your travel and accommodation for the trip; often, the earlier you book, the cheaper it’ll be. This way, you can also be confident that everyone on the trip has a comfy bed to sleep in.

In terms of transport, if you’ll be travelling as a large group it may be easiest to book a minivan or large vehicle so you can travel comfortably together without being separated (provided you don’t need to fly to your destination, of course!)

Book your accommodation

For accommodation, consider hiring an apartment or house so that you can all spend time together, cook meals and enjoy more privacy than you’d get at a hostel. This can often work out to be a more cost-effective and enjoyable way of living during your stay, particularly when you can choose from a range of lovely villas like those available at Villa Plus.

Feeding your group

When it comes to feeding your group, it’ll be much cheaper and easier if you have the means to cook meals together or alternatively split into smaller groups to manage food. Another benefit of this is that can cater easily for any members of your group who have food allergies or dietary preferences.

Activities and entertainment

When it comes to planning how to keep your group entertained, it’s a good idea to have a few ideas in place that’ll appeal to everyone. However, don’t worry if your schedule doesn’t go entirely to plan – a degree of flexibility is an important part of an enjoyable group trip.

If you’e travelling as a particularly large group, it’s likely that everyone will want to take part in the same activities, so it may be wise to split the group up so that everyone gets to do something they’ll really enjoy.
