If you’re reading my blog, the chances are, you love to cook, and spend a considerable amount of time preparing delicious home-cooked meals in your kitchen.

Despite your love of food, however, I wouldn’t be betting that you’re among the majority of people who don’t have any dining furniture in their kitchen. While many of us long to have a space to sit to take the weight off our feet inbetween slaving over the hot stove, few of us have actually got a dining room table and chairs in our kitchens.

Space is often an issue, but there are lots of solutions to this problem. For example, you can opt for dining chairs on casters that can be slid across to another part of the room when not in use, while other kinds of chair can be slid under a table or counter for ease of storage. Side dining chairs are often narrow enough that they can be tucked away into a corner to keep them out of the way, so this could be a great option for you to consider.

Still not convinced that you need a dining table and chairs in your kitchen? Here are just a few reasons to consider investing in some…

Baking sweet treats

While baking may seem like a fun, perhaps even a therapeutic task, it can actually be far more time-consuming than we realise. While it may not take very long to prepare your dough, the actual baking of foods like cookies can take a surprisingly long time, especially if you’ve only got one small oven.

Depending on the type of cookie and how many you’ll be baking, each batch could need anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes in the oven; not quite long enough to leave the kitchen, yet enough time for you to get bored and tire of standing on your feet twiddling your thumbs.

A few minutes to rest

Most of the time when you cook, you’ll probably find that you have at least some downtime.

Kitchen seating is ideal for anyone who might be cooking a large meal and in need of taking the weight off their feet for a few minutes.

This is especially important if you have chronic health conditions that can make standing tiring or difficult. Putting a chair in the kitchen will enable you to take necessary rest breaks while you’re waiting for a pan of water to reach boiling point or for the microwave to finish, for example.

It also provides a seat for someone to join you for chit-chat and keep you company while you work – win-win!

Little and big helpers

If you need assistance in the kitchen from your little (or big!) helpers, putting a chair in your kitchen will always come in useful if they need to stand on it to reach the kitchen counter, or perhaps just fancy letting you get on with the preparation for a while as they take. break. needed to handle certain prep items.

Furthermore, booster seats can be buckled onto most dining chairs that you might think of buying for your kitchen, giving you a place for infants to ‘help’ you cook. These seats also work well at the dining table during meal times.
