Back last year, you may recall me writing about how I managed to get a £10 discount on my total food bill at Janata Palace Indian Restaurant, Cardiff, with tastecard’s 2 for 1 restaurant meals offer.

Now, with the cost of living soaring even further, I’ve teamed up with the popular restaurant discount scheme once again, to show you just how much money you could save with tastecard.

How does tastecard work?

Celebrating its 18th birthday this year, tastecard enables members to access exclusive savings at UK restaurants, coffee shops, pizza delivery chains, and tourist attractions. This includes 2 for 1 meals or 50% off your food bill (including starters, mains and desserts) at selected restaurants, plus 25% off food and drinks at hundreds of other UK restaurants.

Simply sign-up for the scheme via the website at tastecard.co.uk/subscribe or through the
smartphone app. Take a peek at the list of participating restaurants, coffee shops and
attractions in your local area, checking whether the advertised offers are valid for your party
size, and available on the day/time you plan to visit.

Place your booking, and enjoy dining out with a discount! Some restaurants request that
you mention tastecard when booking and at the time of arrival, so make sure you check
whether this applies to your chosen restaurant beforehand.

What is the average saving per meal with a tastecard?

On average, tastecard members save around £23 per restaurant meal, with combined savings of over £9 million in 2022! In addition, tastecard enables savings of around £24 per pizza delivery order, and £1.20 per coffee.

Here are just some of the deals available with tastecard:

  • 2 for 1 on starters, mains and desserts with Pizza Hut, Prezzo, Zizzi and Bella Italia
  • 25% off barista-made drinks 7 days a week at Caffè Nero
  • 50% off pizza restaurant delivery when you spend £30 or more, 7 days a week at Domino’s, Pizza Hut Delivery, and Papa Johns

Some of my favourite cardiff restaurant deals include 25% off the total bill at Maria’s Greek Taverna and Geek Retreat, 50% off the total bill at the Collage Bar and Lounge at Radisson Blu Hotel, and 2 for 1 meals at the Eurasian Tandoori.

How to use tastecard 2 for 1?

To access tastecard’s popular ‘2 for 1’ restaurant dining deal and get two meals for the price of one, simply log into the tastecard website or app and check out the list of participating restaurants in your local area. Then, filter the restaurants by selecting ‘2 for 1’ deals under ‘Offer Type’ so you can view the list of participating restaurants.

You can also follow the same process to access savings of 25% and 50% at participating tastecard restaurants.

Can I use my tastecard app instead of card?

Yes, absolutely! Carrying your digital tastecard in your pocket means you’ll always be ready
to access savings on-the-go. Plus, you can simply show your tastecard app to your waiter or
waitress after your meal, rather than having to carry a plastic card or print your membership
documents and carry them with you.

Furthermore, you can use the tastecard app to manage your account and keep track of any
savings, so it’s easy to see exactly how you’ve saved over time.

Simply download the tastecard app to your phone, log-in and start saving! Switch on push
notifications so you can stay up-to-date on all the latest deal and promotions.

What can I save money on with tastecard, besides food?

While you can save hundreds of pounds on the cost of dining out every year with tastecard, this isn’t the only way to save money through the membership scheme.

Your tastecard membership also enables you to access member-only deals and discounts at popular UK tourist attractions. For example:

  • Get up to 50% off at iFLY Indoor Skydiving at Manchester, Basingstoke and Milton Keynes
  • Get up to 24% off tickets to SEA LIFE centres across the UK
  • Book in advance and enjoy discounts on Alton Towers tickets
  • Get 20% off Virgin Experience Days, offering a variety of fun family activities
