Taking A UK Winter Staycation? Consider These Hotel Alternatives

Have you ever been tempted to get away for some winter sun? While we usually tend to associate holidays with the summer months, holidaying in the winter can make for a wonderful experience.

Sure, there’s nothing quite like feeling the warmth of the suns’ rays on your skin, the sand between your toes, and the refreshing taste of a freshly made cocktail, when soaking up the summer sun somewhere exotic.

However, while you might have to wrap up warm dependent on where you’ll be heading, there’s no reason why winter holidays can’t be just as enjoyable, for different reasons (although you could always choose a destination with a warm year-round climate, if it’s sunshine you’re craving!)

Back in 2016, I spent Christmas Day in Portugal with one of my best friends, in the little town of Lagos in the Algarve. While it wasn’t anywhere near as warm at that time of year as it was when I visited during the summer, we had an amazing time, and I’ll remember our winter trip abroad for the rest of my life.

While now isn’t the best time to travel, there’s nothing to stop us day dreaming about getting away in 2022.

For now, you could always opt for a staycation with the help of sites like JustHooIt.com, instead of booking a package holiday in the sunshine at a time when travel is somewhat restricted. Love where you live, and see it through the eyes of a tourist during the winter months. If you’ve never seen the Christmas lights in London, perhaps a break to see the lights and catch a show could be fun, if you avoid the crowds? If that doesn’t float your boat though, why not head up to the Scottish mountains and go sledding instead?

If you’re itching to travel right now, consider a staycation; at least this way, you don’t have to limit yourself to squeezing your family into one hotel room.
