You’d be surprised at how many women overlook the importance of choosing the right bras to pack for a holiday or vacation. It’s only too easy to pop up a couple of comfy T-shirt bras into your suitcase thinking that, together with your bikini top, they’ll provide all the support you’ll need.
In reality, however, you’ll probably need to bring a few different kinds of bra with you. Consider the climate and humidity of your destination and how this might affect how different fabrics feel against your skin, as well as the kinds of activities you’ll be taking part in, and what kinds of outfits you’ll be wearing while you’re away.

The best bras to pack for a holiday
So, which varieties of womens bra are best for travel? Here are a few kinds of bra I swear by travelling with.
T-shirt bra
A comfy T-shirt bra with seamless cups is a holiday must for me. These basic everyday bras are ideal for wear underneath a t-shirt or blouse, as the smooth fabric helps to avoid any unwanted lines or bumps showing up underneath your top.
Sports bra
A reliable, well-fitting sports bra is a must for me when travelling. While you definitely won’t find me working up a sweat in the hotel gym while on holiday, I do enjoy hiking and exploring the great outdoors. A basic underwired T-shirt bra usually does the trick if I’m just out for a gentle stroll, but for anything more strenuous, I appreciate the support my trusty old sports bra can offer.
Strapless bra
Strappy tops, vests, and dresses can make for a summery daytime look. Just don’t let your bra straps ruin the look!
Packing a strapless bra will ensure you always look the part while on holiday, whether chilling out at the beach, or glamming up for a night-out in the local bars. Plus, it’ll help to limit any unwanted tan lines too – win-win!
Multi-way bra
If you’re looking for a versatile bra you can wear with different holiday outfits, be sure to pack a quality multi-way bra. With straps that can be adjusted to allow for different fittings – from standard shoulder straps, to halter-neck, and criss-cross style – multi-way bras are suitable to wear in all kinds of situations. As you can usually detach the straps altogether, they also double up as a strapless bra.
For those who miss the support that bra straps can offer, “invisible” plastic bra straps are an excellent substitute.
Thermal padded bra and/or vest
Packing for a winter holiday, or visiting a colder climate? A thermal padded bra and/or vest, or bodysuit makes for a wonderful way to keep yourself cosy and warm. Look for materials that offer more warmth and comfort, like those with a higher cotton content. And, as the cold weather can dry out our skin, choose softer fabrics to minimise any potential irritation.
Ultimately, the question of what bras to pack for a holiday will be down to personal preference. It’s not just about staying on trend, but about what you feel the most comfortable in, and what will be most functional for you given your chosen destination, and planned activities.
