Decadently chocolatey, fudgey and rich. Last week, I had the pleasure of sampling some of the best brownies I’ve ever tasted when Bad Brownie kindly treated me to some of their most popular brownies by post. I let out a squeal of joy when I spotted the box waiting for me on the doormat one afternoon last week – just in time for my 3pm energy slump!
After brewing myself a hot, creamy latte, I got comfy on the sofa with one of my favourite cookbooks, drooling in anticipation of getting my brownie fix. I sampled Bad Brownie’s Best Seller Chocolate Brownie Selection (RRP £14.50) containing 12 bitesized brownies in three different flavours including salted caramel, triple chocolate and Ferrero Rocher, along with a handy ingredient and nutritional guide.
Before digging in, I just had to get a few snaps of the packaging to show you. The brownies were carefully wrapped in Bad Brownie-branded paper and packed into a sleek letterbox- and eco-friendly cardboard box branded with the words, ‘Be Bad’ – the perfect encouragement for your sweet treat! I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and intact the brownies were when they arrived. I’ve ordered brownies and other cakes by post before and they were nothing like this.
A classic dark chocolate brownie studded with milk and white chocolate chips, the Triple Chocolate brownie is criss-crossed with milk, white and dark chocolate sauce for an elegant finish. It’s probably the most attractive of the three brownie flavours in my box and, if you like to keep things simple (yet scrumptious!) when it comes to your brownies, this is the flavour for you.
Prising a salted caramel brownie out of the box, I lifted it up and carefully held it between my thumb and index fingers, admiring the way the caramel oozed out from between the moist brownie layers as I gently squeezed it. Exercising military disclipline as I held back from devouring it just long enough to capture a few photos, I finally sunk my teeth in. Sticky, sweet and salty, the caramel offset the intense, chocolatey tones of the brownie beautifully.
I love Ferrero Rocher, so knowing I’d adore Bad Brownie’s Ferrero Rocher hazelnut brownies, I left the best until last. A slab of dense, velvety brownie was topped with moreish hazelnut buttercream and a crispy wafer, making for a pleasant crunch upon biting into it. I’d happily eat a whole box of these, although if I am completely honest, I think the salted caramel brownies are my favourite.
In the unlikely event that you don’t inhale every last crumb of your brownies within just a few days (hours, even…) they’ll stay fresh in an airtight container in a cool cupboard for 1-2 weeks, in the fridge for 2-3 weeks or in the freezer for up to three months (a great excuse to stock up!)
