Planning a getaway this summer? Don’t go anywhere until you’ve read these travel tips. From booking and airport hacks, to packing techniques and clever ideas for when you arrive at your destination, these travel hacks will help to ensure your trip runs smoothly, leaving you to enjoy a stress-free holiday.

While some of these travel tips are pretty obvious (eg. use the free WiFi, book your flight last-minute if you’re not too fussed on where you go), others are completely new to me and I can’t believe I’ve never thought of them before. For example, I had no idea that travel websites will monitor your visits and increase prices if you seem interested, and the idea of storing your jewellery in a weekly pill-box is pretty genius.

I’ll definitely be taking these tips on board when I come to book my next getaway!

  1. Keeping your essentials in your carry-on is such a good tip! It’s always seemed like common sense to me, which I was thankful for the first time I flew long-haul to South Africa with my Gran & my cousin, and our bags somehow ended up in Egypt… I’ve never been so glad to have my toothbrush and clean knickers in my handbag haha!

    • Haha, good thinking 🙂 The more I travel, the better my packing technique gets. But I remember when I first flew, it was to New York, and I forgot to pack the things I would need on the plane into my cabin bag which was kinda frustrating!

  2. These are great tips! I especially like number 7, something I never thought of and always buy water for the plane! Will remember these for my forthcoming trip to Amsterdam

    • Glad you found the travel tips useful! I always take a bottle of water on the plane with me; really helps to stay hydrated!

    • Me too, why haven’t I ever thought of this?! All those tangled necklaces I could’ve avoided… lol!

  3. Some great travel hacks here! That getting the entire row idea is so good, why had I never thought of that! Unfortunately I have only ever been on one flight that wasn’t completely full!

  4. This was actually so interesting and loads of useful tips – I always roll things up into my shoes and boots when I’m packing! The airline thing is also pretty smart – will give it a go next time we’re off!

    • That’s a great tip! Yeah, I’d never heard of some of these tips before myself. I have started clearing my browser history, cache and cookies now when looking for flights.

  5. Fantastic tips! I will definitely be using these when we head off on holiday in a few weeks! We are staying in the UK but lots of these are still really relevant so thank you for sharing! x

  6. There are so many awesome tips here that I’ll be using when I book my first getaway in four years later this year!
