Although the prospect of packing your suitcase to go away on holiday might seem fairly straight-forward in itself, in reality, it’s often anything but simple. In fact, packing to go away on holiday is often one of the most stressful parts of the travel experience for me.
Of course, the correct answer to the question of what exactly needs to go into your case will depend on where you’re going, and what you’ll be doing. You’ll need to consider the climate, any activities you’ll be likely to partake in, and whether you’re likely need a spare change of clothes, or any additional items and/or accessories.
Generally speaking, however, wherever you’ll be heading away on holiday, it often pays to take a few fashion essentials with you. Here are a few items to pack into your suitcase:

Watch
It helps to be able to keep track of the time while travelling, so you should definitely consider wearing, or carrying, a watch or timepiece with you when you go on holiday.
If you have a suitable compartment, a wristwatch is simple to transport and store in your bag, but you might find it easier to wear your watch – that way, you’lll be less likely to lose it.
Evening wristwatches are a great way to complement a formal dinner outfit. With this in mind, check this collection of ladies’ watches and, who knows, perhaps you might just find a suitable, sustainable new watch to complete your look.
If you’ll be travelling with an Apple Watch, consider treating yourself to one of Longvadon’s leather bands for a stylish upgrade to your holiday wardrobe, suitable for both casual and formal occasions.
Besides enabling you to keep track of the time in a foreign time zone, some watches can also serve as a navigational aid, allowing you to monitor traffic and locate your desired destination with ease. Plus, a watch that can withstand water is helpful for swimming and water sports, as you won’t need to worry about it getting wet.
Jacket
It’s natural for your body to need time to get used to a new climate, as well as the surrounding you may encounter when travelling.
If you bring a jacket, you won’t have to worry about getting cold or wet during your journey. Check the weather forecast before you go and, if wet or cold weather is predicted, it pays to pack a jacket or two.
Despite this, many people tend to overlook the importance of jacket, leaving theirs at home to save on luggage space, or weight. However, if you opt for a lightweight, comfortable style, travelling with a jacket in your suitcase shouldn’t cause you too much hassle.
Shoes
Where travel footwear is concerned, consider packing different shoes depending on your destination and plans. When I went to Jamaica recently, for example, I took a range of shoes to ensure I had something to wear on my feet, whatever I was doing; from water shoes for waterfall-climbing, to walking shoes for hiking mountains, I was well-prepared for all the activities on my itinerary, which helped to ensure I had a great time.
Think about where you’ll be going, and what kinds of activities you’ll be doing, then plan your footwear around this; as a general rule, walking shoes come in handy in almost any destination. A versatile pair of shoes can save space in your luggage and adapt to different outfits and occasions. Consider packing ladies Skecher shoes, known for their comfort and adaptability. Whether you’re sightseeing during the day or enjoying an evening out, these shoes can complement various styles while keeping your feet comfortable.
Hats
Whether you’ll be travelling somewhere hot and sunny, or you’ll be heading to wetter climes, a decent hat is something you’ll always be thankful that you left home with.
From snuggly, woollen hats to keep your head and ears warm while on a camping trip, to a light-weight, trendy cap you can wear to shade your face and scalp from the intense heat of the sun, a good hat can be helpful whatever the weather (just make sure you pack for the climate you’ll be likely to experience in your chosen destination).
Dark blue or black jeans
For a staple that works with anything, dark blue, navy or black jeans are an excellent bet. Not only will a pair of dark pants or jeans make for a casual, comfy clothing choice, but they may also help youto blend in with your surroundings, with their understated elegance.
What’s more, no matter how often you wear them, dark jean are simple enough to maintain, and usually last at least a couple of years.
Plus, as jeans are such a versatile option, you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion. Simply team them with a t-shirt for a laid-back leisurely look, or add a pretty top, a pair of glamorous earrings and a fancy clutch bag to take your look through from day to night.
Are there any fashion items that you won’t leave home without while travelling? I’d love to hear about them – leave me a comment below!
