It’s no surprise that camping holidays have been on the rise over the past 18 months or so. At a time when our ability to travel has been (up until recently) greatly limited, camping has provided us with a means of getting away from day-to-day life and spending time outdoors with our loved ones, without breaking the bank.

While camping can make for an incredibly fun and affordable pastime, however, it’s also often associated with decreased levels of comfort, temperamental weather conditions, and the need to wear several rather uncomfortable – and, often, unsightly – layers of clothing.

The good news is, though, that with some advance outfit planning on your part while you’re packing to leave, it’s entirely possible to feel comfortable and look good while camping.

But, how, I hear you ask? Read on to discover how to stay looking stylish while camping in comfort…

Fleeces

A super-soft, cosy sweater usually worn as outerwear, a fleece will be invaluable for helping to protect you from the cold on your upcoming camping trip.

What’s more, as fleeces come in a range of colours and styles, you’re bound to find one to suit your usual look. If you’re considering investing in a quality fleece, this GO Outdoors discount code is definitely worth checking out!

Tracksuits

Tracksuits are comfortable, stylish and provide plenty of room for movement. They’re often worn by athletes, runners and cyclists while travelling, but you too could benefit from packing a tracksuit into your case or hold-all when you go away.

Not only are tracksuits extremely comfortable, but as they’re available in a number of interesting designs and different fabrics, you should be able to find a design that will coordinate with your favorite hiking boots or winter jacket too.

Onesies

One-piece outfits are very ‘in’ at the moment, often worn by those who want to look trendy and feel comfortable at the same time. Onesies are among the most popular kind of one-piece outfit, however, and they make for an excellent choice for camping.

When wearing a onesie while camping, bear in mind that it should be worn while you’re hanging out in your tent or sleeping. If you wear one while hiking or gathering wood, for example, changing out of your oneside can make for a testing experience. Secondlu, you should aim to choose a onesie that’s dark in colour for camping, as bright and vibrant colours can attract ticks and other dangerous insects.

Cycling shorts

Cycling shorts are great for avid cyclists, but you can wear a pair of cycling shorts while camping, too! These tight-fitting, durable shorts are often made using nylon or lycra, so they are very light and comfortable against your skin.

If you like, you could even wear a pair of cycling shorts under your hiking pants or khaki shorts if you want to dress in layers. Plus, speaking from personal experience, if you’re a bigger lady like me, wearing cycling shorts underneath skirts and dresses can help to avoid the dreaded chub-rub, especially when travelling to hotter climates.

Waterproof jackets

A waterproof jacket is a real must for camping, although as they can be quite thin, they don’t always keep you very warm, although you will be able to keep dry.

For this reason, you might want to bring a hoodie to wear underneath your waterproofs. This way, you’ll be dry and warm!

Bucket hats

You might not be aware of this yet, but bucket hats are actually back in fashion now! They’re usually available in a number of colour combinations and designs, and made from a variety of materials including cotton and polyester.

If you want to look stylish on your upcoming camping trip, buy a bucket hat that matches the color and design of the rest of your clothes. If you’ll be wearing a black waterproof jacket and hoodie, for instance, you should wear a black bucket hat to match.

Choose footwear carefully

Your footwear plays an important role in the way you look and feel while camping. As long as you choose a pair of well-made, sensible shoes, they may just become your best travel companion yet.

When I go camping, I tend to pack a couple of pairs of trainers – just in case one pair gets wet – and don’t forget to pack plenty of socks too! Dependent on where you’ll be going, you may also wish to take a pair of walking or hiking shoes with you.

Don’t forget to accessorise

Accessories can make or break an outfit. So, be sure to bring a few carefully chosen items with you when you go camping. A scarf that matches the color and design of your waterproof jacket and a coordinating cap will allow you to look stylish even the harshest weather conditions, for example.

Furthermore, a hat and a scarf will also help you keep your head and ears warm on a chilly camping trip.

Wear your favourite jeans

I never leave home without my favourite pair of jeans, and a camping trip is no exception to this rule.

Jeans must be among the most durable types of clothing there are. Leggings aside, I can’t think of any other item of clothing I’d rather wear on a camping trip; not only do jeans look stylish, but they’re also usually rather comfortable and they may even protect your skin from ticks and other biting insects.

As we all know, camping can be an incredibly fun experience if properly planned for. Follow these tips to ensure you pack the right clothing and accessories to help you to have the best camping trip possible.
