Revamping your holiday wardrobe and keeping up-to-date with the latest fashion trends for travel can really give you that edge when it comes to your personal appearance, enabling you to truly stand out from the crowd.

While many of us would love to spend all our hard-earned cash on new clothes, our budgets often only stretch so far. It’s important for us to remain realistic when buying new clothes, and aim to invest in versatile pieces that’ll help us to look good in all seasons, wherever we go, whether that be a pretty new bikini or swimsuit, or perhaps just a decent pair of sunglasses.

If, like me, your holiday wardrobe seems to be never-ending, you may even want to look into updating your wardrobe itself, before you even begin to think about which clothes you’ll be putting into it. If you’re limited on space, consider built in wardrobes – this can be a great way to ensure you’re making the most of all available space to ensure as much storage as possible for your clothes, without obstructing the room.

Not sure where to start with updating your holiday wardrobe? Here are a few tips to help you to get going…

4 quick and easy ways to update your holiday wardrobe

Choose denim

If it’s time to upgrade your wardrobe but you don’t have the funds to shell out on expensive pieces, sticking with denim is a good bed.

One of the main advantages of denim is that it’s strong enough to take the strain of regular active wear, whether at home or abroad, while also staying in trend in all seasons. Denim just never seem to go out of fashion; whether you purchase a denim jacket or invest in new jeans, you don’t have to spend a fortune on denim to make a lasting impression.

What’s more, denim is also fairly easy to clean, stays fairly wrinkle-free, and looks great thrown over a light summer dress. Plus, denim can be worn for all sorts of occasions, from days-out on the beach, to nights in the club, meaning you’ll get good use out of it too.

A good pair of denim jeans are among the most reliable and best-looking pieces of clothing you’ll ever own, so knowing your size and deciding whether you want raw denim or washed denim should be your first port of call. The best thing about denim is that it comes in different price tags to suit all budgets, so you can spend money without worrying about the total cost.

Bring a white t-shirt (and don’t forget a spare!)

You’ll never regret packing a white shirt or blouse into your suitcase when you go on holiday. Whether you need something light and floaty to wear on a scorching hot day, or perhaps just a plain top to co-ordinate with a patterned midi skirt or bottoms, a white shirt always looks the part.

However, don’t forget that sweat and grime will accumulate on white clothing before you know it. For this reason, it pays to pack a spare white shirt to take with you. King Size suggests prioritising multi-functional clothing and accessories when travelling: “Look for items that provide both comfort and adaptability to save space and ensure you’re ready for any occasion.”

You may also wish to buy a fabric detergent that’s designed to keep white clothing looking clean and fresh. Whenever I travel, I always pop a few 2-in-1 laundry detergent and fabric softener pods into my case – they’re so handy for washing your clothes on-the-go!!

Comfy shoes are a must

A comfortable pair of trendy trainers are a must-have for any holiday wardrobe.

Whether you’ll just be strolling along the beach admiring the sea views, or perhaps you plan on embarking on a strenuous hike across the countryside, a good pair of trainers will help to support your feet along the way, helping to keep muscle aches and pesky blisters at bay.

With so many trainer brands to choose from, you don’t have to spend a fortune to look the part either. While there are lots of designer trainers on the market, there are tonnes of inexpensive brands that can do the job just as well, too.

If you opt for a pair of white trainers, remember that they can get stained very quickly. Even if you put them in the wash, they’ll never look as fresh as they did when you first bought them. For this reason, it’s often best to splurge on a darker pair or, if your heart is really set on a pair of white trainers, opt for a couple of pairs that you can wear for different occasions, so they don’t get too dirty, too quickly.

Don’t forget your coat!

With autumn and winter just around the corner, t’s important to invest in a good quality coat that’ll see you through the colder months and provide warmth and comfort – particularly if you plan on staycationing within the UK, or travelling within Europe.

Consider the kind of fit, fabric, and quality you’re looking for in your new coat. If you invest in a designer coat, the materials are second to none, meaning you can get more longevity out of it; however, you will need to budget for a bigger spend initially.

Before making your mind up, make sure you look into whether your coat can be machine-washed, or dry-cleaned, and whether this will have any implications for you. The last thing you want to do is to spend a fortune on a coat, only to find that it’s difficult or expensive to wash, without affecting its quality.

Plus, if you’ll be taking your coat with you on holiday, you might want to choose a design with plenty of pockets to house your personal essentials while on the go.
