We all count down to when we can switch our work status to ‘out of office’ and escape the mundane 9-5, to explore somewhere new or a place we visit annually.
But what if I told you, you could switch your out of office on more than you’ve been doing this year, for weekend, week-long or even fortnight stays just a drive away from home? Well, the perfect summer lodges from Away Resorts are the ideal staycation spot for couples and families alike, with the option to rent or buy your home away from home.
Selecting the perfect location for your lodge holiday home is key to making the most of not only your lodge, but your surroundings too. With Away Resorts’ lodges dotted all over the country, there are different kind of locations to choose from. So, whether you prefer to staycation near the coast or getaway to a remote part of the country, ideal for woodland walks, there’ll be a lodge awaiting your arrival.
With this in mind, I thought it might be useful to highlight just a few of the many locations you could be holidaying at up and down the country this summer.
Cornwall
Known for its dreamy beaches and surfable waves, Cornwall is often one of the first places we consider when seeking to book a UK staycation, or perhaps even buy a holiday home.
With an array of pet-friendly beaches and lots to do whether travelling with family, as a couple, or with friends, adventure lies in store for everyone on a seaside holiday in Cornwall.
Home to the iconic Cornish pasty, you’ll never be short of local food and drinks to sample while staying along the Cornish coastline Check out my previous blog post for inspiration on the best foods to eat in Cornwall.
Dorset
Known as the Jurassic Coast, Dorset is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in the British Isles. These include the likes of Durdle Door, an ancient stone arch, and layered cliffs close to Lulworth, as well as soft, sandy beaches by Poole, Swanage and Weymouth.
Dorset is a must-visit if you have any aspiring archaeologists or dinosaur fans within your party. The region is characterised by a long stretch of coastline, where the cliffs contain fossils and rock formations showing geological history dating back millions of years. You really never know what you could find on your stroll along the beach!
Isle of Wight
Just a small ferry trip across the sea, the Isle of Wight is home to an array of exciting activities for both children and adults alike.
Whether you’re a thrillseeker or an explorer, there’s lots to see and do here. Explore the great outdoors on countryside walks, spotting red squirrels, unique butterfly species and a variety of birds and other wildlife as you go.
One of the island’s most popular attractions, The Needles Landmark Attraction is well-worth a visit. Ride in a cable car to see the famous needles rocks – a series of pointed white rocks, jutting out of the ocean like sharp white teeth.
If you’re looking for ways to occupy the kids, you’ll be faced with a few different options on the island. Some of the most highly recommended attractions for children include Monkey Haven, Robin Hill, Sandham Gardens and Tapnell Farm Park.
That said, if you’ve decided to leave the kids at home in search of some romance and quality time with your significant other, how about a spot of stargazing, where you can spend the night exploring the stars above together? There are places all over the island where you can simply park up, sit back and enjoy a glimpse into the starry night sky above our heads.
These are just three of the many locations dotted around the UK which are perfect for a summer staycation in a lodge – which one do you think you’d enjoy visiting the most?
