Of all the things you could possibly think of to pack into your suitcase when you head off on your travels, I bet a portable massage gun isn’t one of them – yet. By the time you’ve finished reading this blog post, however, I hope to have convinced you about the benefits of travelling with a massage gun.

Personally, it’s never even crossed my mind to travel with a massage gun before. However, ExoGun recently sent me one of their DreamPro massage guns to review and now, I can’t imagine leaving home for more than a couple of days without it.

What is a portable massage gun?

If you’ve never used a portable massage gun before, you’re probably wondering exactly what it is. Well, as the name would suggest, a portable massage gun enables you to massage yourself on-the-go.

Shaped similar to a power drill, portable massage guns enable you to carry out ‘percussion massage’ therapy wherever and whenever you need it, without the need to see a specialist massage therapist. Whether you’re in need of high-impact recovery after hiking for hours through the rainforest, or perhaps just fancying a low-impact deep tissue massage after a session in the hotel pool, a good quality portable massage gun like ExoGun’s DreamPro will be able to cater to your different needs.

Not only are portable massage guns very convenient, but they’re also known to be highly effective at relieving muscular aches and pains. As the gun is hand-held, you can control the pressure yourself, observing how your muscles react. Many believe this makes for a much safer, more enjoyable form of massage.

If you’re one of those people who avoids massages simply because you don’t like your body being touched by a stranger, then a portable massage gun is 100% for you.

Usually, your portable massage gun will come with a charger, various massage attachments and a carry case too, making it perfectly equipped for travelling with.

Why you should travel with a massage gun

Portable massage guns are useful things to have at home, but I think they’d be even handier for travelling with.

Here are just a few reasons why I’m looking forward to travelling with my ExoGun Dream Pro:

Relax and unwind after a long day of exploring

One of the things I’m looking forward to the most about travelling with my massage gun, is being able to relieve my tired, aching muscles at the end of a long day.

As I was born with bilateral tilapes (more commonly known as clubfoot), I experience quite a lot of pain if I’m on my feet for more than a few hours at a time. Even just half a day of sight-seeing could be enough to have my ankles in agony at times. Travelling with the ExoGun DreamPro will really help me to relieve my pain on-the-go.

Even if you’re not travelling with a disability or health condition, the ExoGun could still be of great help to you while on travelling away from home for long periods of time. If you’re an adventure sports enthusiast or a hiking fan in particular, there’s every possibility you could injure yourself or pull a muscle while away from home. Being able to deliver targeted pain relief at the touch of a button could be invaluable in these circumstances.

Save money to spend elsewhere

Not only is a portable massage gun helpful in relieving painful muscles, but it could also help you to save a few hundred pounds while travelling too.

If, like me, you like to treat yourself to a full body massage after a long hike – or perhaps just for a treat while on holiday – you’ll know just how much spa treatments like this can cost, especially if you’ll be staying in a luxury hotel or resort. Compared to the cost of seeing a chiropractor for more serious aches and pains, the value for money is incomparable.

Travelling with a portable massage gun means you can save on the cost of a luxury massage, meaning you’ll have more money to spend on visiting your favourite attractions and landmarks, as well as exploring the local food and drink scene.

Stick to your own schedule

Not only are hotel- and resort-based massage therapists expensive, but they’re also often very busy people. After all, for many people, enjoying a luxury spa treatment is one of the highlights of staying somewhere swanky while away from home.

Unfortunately, this means you might not be able to book in with a massage therapist at your preferred time, so you might need to compromise on your existing schedule in order to squeeze your massage in.

However, if you travel with a portable massage gun, you won’t need to worry about how the availability of a massage therapist could impact on your itinerary. Simply whip out the gun whenever your muscles feel a bit tired and you’ll be good to go in no time!

ExoGun’s DreamPro normally retails at $599.99 but for a limited time only, you can get yours for just $159. Given that many spas charge at least that for a full body massage, I think that’s incredible value for money.

That said, as much as I love my ExoGun Dream Pro, it hasn’t quite replaced my favourite massage therapist at home just yet; for me, nothing quite compares to the hands of an experienced masseuse! I know it’ll come in really handy when I need to relax on the go, however.

16 Comments on 3 Reasons To Travel With A Massage Gun

  1. I’ve used these in the past, they are great. I still love a massage though, there is something to be said for just lying there and getting massaged. Maybe need to enlist in hubby with the massage gun 😉

  2. Oh this sounds like just what I need. But even on offer, it’s a bit too pricey for me. I will just have to stick to the unwilling husband.

    • I would be really tempted to treat myself to one if they hadn’t sent me one; I don’t have a hubby to massage me unfortunately!

  3. I’ve been looking at these for a few weeks now . I really heart my calf on my walks and have read such good things about these

  4. I’ve seen these about quite often and thought they were more for people who worked out a lot, but it’s interesting to think about them for when you travel and are walking and exploring loads x

    • They are really popular among athletes because they work out so often, but they can be very beneficial for non-athletes too. I find mine helps to relieve the pain I get in my feet after a long day. x

  5. That sounds fantastic!! I’ve bought back and neck massagers before. This would be great as a gift.

  6. I have been seeing a lot about massage gun and the benefits of using them but would never have thought to take them on travels with me.

  7. I could definitely see us taking one away with us! We have a massager at home and my partner uses it often on his neck and shoulders so I could definitely see him wanting a portable one to take away with us!
