I can’t wait for weeks on end of sun, sun and more sun. I love spending time in my garden when the weather is nice – give me a refreshing glass of iced tea, a good book and a little bit of shade and I’ll be as happy as I can be. However, before I can enjoy the sunny days of spring and summer, I need to give my garden space some much needed TLC.

Bring indoors outside
Designer Shade Solutions retractable louvred roofs in Ireland recommend turning your backyard into an outdoor living space by bringing the indoors outside with a modern pergola. These modern pergolas feature a retractable and tilting louvered roof that can easily open if the weather is enjoyable, close if it starts to rain and simply tilt to offer shade. By adding a modern pergola, you can enjoy your outdoors whilst being comfortable and sheltered from the elements.
As Dear Bear and Beany mentions, “whether you have a patio, terrace or garden, installing a modern pergola will give you the perfect outdoor retreat to enjoy all-year-round.” These retractable roofs will ensure you can make the most out of your garden no matter the weather plus, helping you to create the most incredible outdoor space to welcome your friends and family.

Spruce up your flowerbeds
Tidying up your garden is a great way to prepare your outdoors space in time for summer. A great way to get started with this is to mow the lawn. In addition, planting flowers and tidying up your flowerbeds is one of the most affordable and simple ways to get your garden summer-ready.
If you’re a budding gardener, you’ll probably already have some idea of what varieties and shades of flower will look good next to each other. However, if being green-fingered doesn’t come all that naturally to you, consider investing in a “plant by numbers” style set-up. You’ll be sent a biodegradable paper roll with numbers on it, along with several potted plants and flowers, each of which are numbered according to where you’ll need to place them on the roll.
Throwing a last-minute garden party, and don’t have time to wait for flowers to bloom? No need to worry; simply call a local florist, like flowers delivery throughout Melbourne by Daily Blooms, and arrange for them to deliver a few pretty floral arrangements for you.
Tackle the clutter
Is your garden shed full of things you don’t use anymore? Is your patio full of clutter that you haven’t had time to bin? Don’t wait any longer to clean your garden and patio, now is the right time. Pretty Big Butterflies recommends going “full Marie Kondo on your garden shed – ask yourself if you need the things you have, if they give you joy and get rid of anything you haven’t been using and don’t need.”
Don’t forget to jet wash your patio and give your garden furniture a good clean to make sure everything is squeaky clean for you to use. Maybe it’s time to buy new garden furniture – if you’re on a budget, browse second-hand furniture websites and upcycle garden furniture to match your style.

Add blue tones
Janine Huldie predicts blue is going to be more prominent in people’s gardens and outdoor spaces this year. She claims, “blue is a relaxing colour that represents tranquillity, peacefulness, and stability. I think we all need a little bit of blue in our lives.” Add blue to your outdoor space by planting blue flowers, such as Evolvulus or Salvia azurea, or by adding splashes of blue here and there – paint your garden shed or add blue plant pots around your patio, for example.
Not only will blue help you to relax, but adding a burst of colour to your garden is bound to impress your summer BBQ guests!

So, there you have it – four ways to prep your garden for summer!
