As Ambassador Cruise Line launches in the UK – the first new British cruise line since 2010 – let’s take a look at what the brand entails and whether it might be worth booking a cruise with Ambassador.
Ambassador’s first cruse ship, Ambience is set to depart from London Tilbury in Spring 2022. Following on from this, in spring 2023 – once its inaugural season is complete – the cruise line plans to extend sailings with additional regional ports, including Liverpool and Newcastle on an ex-uk no-fly range of voyages.
So, that’s a brief introduction to Ambassador Cruise Line. Now, let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you might choose to book onto one of their cruises.
Diverse routes and destinations
Ambassador Cruise Line’s extensive range of cruising routes and destinations makes it an attractive prospect for anyone thinking about booking a cruise for 2022/23.
33 inaugural year sailings will see Ambassador cruise to over 90 different ports, with destination highlights including the British Isles, the Norwegian Fjords, the Baltics and St Petersburg, Greenland, the Arctic and Iceland, alongside several short break cruises.
For the winter, choose from a variety of exploration-style voyages to the Canaries, Cuba, the Caribbean, Cape Verde and Scandinavia. Sounds dreamy, right?
Stringent health & safety protocols
As Ambassador’s smaller- to mid-sized classic cruise ships offer a higher space-to-guest ratio, guests enjoy more room in which to move around, with plenty of space available for social distancing if necessary.
Ambassador has introduced a health and safety mandate to ensure all of its staff are fully vaccinated, as well as requiring proof of vaccination from all guests who wish to make a cruise booking.
Financial protection
After the events of the past year or so, Ambassador Cruise Line knows only too well just how important it is for its customers to feel reassured that, if their cruise was to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, they’d be refunded every penny they paid for it.
For this reason, all of Ambassador’s booking confirmation documents contain a refund guarantee, stating that guests will be fully refunded in the event of cruise cancellation. Furthermore, the cruise line also maintains a fully independent managed trust account; guests funds are deposited into this account and only released once the cruise ship sets sail.
Committed to sustainability
With sustainable travel principles at its heart, Ambassador Cruise Line is committed to protecting the environment, including the oceans and local communities in the different destinations it sails to.
All cruise ships are built to exceed the latest environmental standards, with energy-efficient engines, while there is also company-wide ban on single-use plastic on-board.
Adult-only cruising
Ambassador will target the adult market, with a special focus on the over 50s. Only over-18s will be allowed to board Ambassador’s cruise ships.
While this does mean that families with young children or teens won’t be able to cruise with Ambassador, it also means that any adults looking for a quiet, peaceful cruising experience will be more likely to find just that.
However, Ambassador will be offering two multi-generational cruises during the school holidays in 2022. All infants over 6 months and children will be welcome to book onto these cruises.
Solo cruise options
As someone who often travels alone, I’m so excited to hear that Ambassador has designated a number of cabins for use by solo travellers.
If you’ll be travelling solo for six days or more, you’ll also have the opportunity to attend a welcome cocktail party to enable you to connect with like-minded solo cruisers to spend time with during the voyage.
Extravagrant dining offering
Whether you’re keen for a traditional English afternoon tea or a six-course gala dinner, dining with Ambassador Cruise Line will always make for an indulgent experience.
Carefully crafted menus blend classic British fare with exotic local cuisine, drawing upon the destinations covered by each route.
Onboard Ambience, you’ll find an even bigger focus on gastronomy, with three additional specialty venues including Saffron (focusing on Indian cuisine), Sea and Grass (specialising in prime dry-aged cuts) and the Chef’s Table – a VIP multi-course dining experience created and hosted by the Executive Chef.
I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling very excited about the future of Ambassador Cruise Line. It seems like there are plenty of reasons to cruise with them, and being a solo traveller, I’m delighted they provide options for those travelling alone too.
