Update your cabinets

One of the focal points of our kitchens has to be our cabinets. Replacing cabinets can cost you much more than you may realise. However, if it really is time for an update, you may not necessarily need to buy brand new cabinets.

Instead of replacing, why not update your cabinets? You’ll be surprised at just how much of a difference you can make by giving your cabinets a sand down and fresh coat of paint.

Another option is to add brand new handles, as this will update the look of your cabinets without costing you the earth.

Fix or replace old appliances

One of the most expensive parts of refreshing your kitchen is replacing bulky appliances. So, if you’re on a budget, it pays to shop around for second-hand models.

Nobody wants to invest in old or worn-out appliances when you’re trying to update your kitchen, but often, second-hand items just need some replacement parts fitted to get them back to proper working order again.

If you’re DIY-minded enough, you may even be able to buy online appliance spares and install them yourself to save a bit of money. Not only will you be sticking to your budget and refreshing your kitchen, but you’ll be doing so with the environment in mind.

Shop around for cheap worktops

Whilst many parts of your kitchen can easily be updated, rather than replaced, the same is not true for everything. Take your worktops for example; unfortunately, worktops can be costly to replace if you don’t take the time to shop around for them.

Thankfully there are more affordable worktop options out there and just because they’re more reasonably priced, this doesn’t mean that they have to be of poor quality. You may just need to spend some more time hunting down the worthwhile options and doing your research before you buy.

Consider lighting

You’ll be surprised at just how much of a difference the lighting you have in your kitchen can make. You should avoid dim lighting, wherever possible, as the brighter the light, the more welcoming it will make your room feel.

It might also be worthwhile to think about the kind of light switch panels you’ll be installing, as they can make a subtle yet noticeable difference to the overall appearance of your kitchen.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to update your kitchen and ensusre it stays looking its best, without having to spend a small fortune!
