Here’s where to find some of the best hotel gardens I’ve ever experienced. Indulge in a luxurious stay in stunning surroundings at these five unique hotels and resorts.
When it comes to choosing a hotel for a holiday stay, most of us usually have a few different considerations in mind. From outdoor infinity pools, onsite gyms and spas; to fancy hotel rooms, five-star dining and friendly staff, the ideal hotel stay
One thing we can probably all agree on, however, is that it’s always rather lovely to be surrounded by luxurious, landscaped gardens which we can explore at our own pace. Whether you’re wandering through the gardens, admiring the flora as you pass; or perhaps just admiring the postcard-perfect views from your bedroom window, there’s a lot to be said for gorgeous green spaces at hotels and resorts.
So, where can you find the best hotel gardens around the world? Here’s my pick of the bunch to get you feeling inspired.
The best hotel gardens I’ve experienced
Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Sabah, Malaysia
Although technically a rainforest rather than your typical hotel garden, there’s no denying the lure of Sukau Rainforest Lodge’s adventurous setting. Sitting on the banks of the Kinabatangan River in Sabah (on the Malaysian section of the island of Borneo), this iconic lodge is nestled within several acres of towering trees, blanketed by leafy canopies.
While spotting endangered species on the Kinabatangan River is one of the most popular pastimes to enjoy during your stay, be sure to keep an eye out for the resident orangutan roaming freely on-site!
When darkness falls, embark on a guided “bug walk” with an experienced guide, spotting unusual insects and creatures by torchlight. If you happen to be staying in one of the self-contained cabins in the rainforest, the staff will no doubt go out of their way to lift your garden with fabulous lighting in the form of lanterns and bamboo torches.

Mount Edgecombe Plantation Resort – Victoria, Grenada
Based in the north of Grenada, Mount Edgecombe Plantation is embraced by natural rainforests and tropical landscapes.
Staying on this working cacao estate – which centres upon the magnificent plantation house. alongside the ‘Nutmeg Rooms’ (based within a former spice storage house) – you’ll be surrounded by roaming peacocks and blooming mango trees, with two azure infinity pools merging into the shimmering backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
It’s the ultimate destination for a picturesque Caribbean escape; read more in my previous post on where to stay in Grenada.

Xtabi Resort – Negril, Jamaica
Perched on the cliffs of Negril’s “West End” on Jamaica’s west coast, Xtabi Resort is a charming family-run boutique resort.
With ladders leading down into the sparkling Caribbean sea and jump-points available for the brave, this is a top spot for swimming, snorkelling and diving. The underground caves are another unique feature of this popular local hotel, accessible via stone steps from the bar and gardens.
However, the hotel gardens surrounding the swimming pool and guest rooms are a real talking point of Xtabi Resort. Wander through leafy green archways, counting the different species of eye-popping flowers and marvelling at the exotic sculptures as you pass.

While there is a lot to consider when booking a hotel, looking for the best hotel gardens is a good place to start.
