It’s been just over a month since I first reviewed a Deliveroo takeaway on my blog, after ordering a stunning takeaway from The Hellenic Eatery in Cardiff. Since then I’ve used the premium food delivery service a few times, including an order from Gourmet Burger Kitchen which I wrote about a few weeks ago.
Recently, I ordered a takeaway from Bagel and Burger Kitchen on Salisbury Road in Cathays, Cardiff via the Deliveroo app. Cardiff is literally swamped with trendy new burger bars at the moment, but perhaps the inclusion of bagels on the menu will help to give Bagel and Burger Kitchen that added edge. The restaurant also offers more vegetarian choices in comparison to your typical burger bar.
Where burgers are concerned, the menu offers a range of classic options alongside a number of BB specials, including the Big Cwtch (a hamburger topped with slow-roasted pulled lamb and relish) and the La Bamba (Mexican chicken fillet topped with fresh salsa, tortilla chips and cheese), both £6,95. There’s even a Krispy Kreme burger, a traditional American cheese burger served between, yes, you guessed it, a sweet glazed Krispy Kreme donut.
However, you’re not exactly spoilt for choice when it comes to bagel fillings. The menu features just seven options, three of which are plain with either Nutella, peanut butter or jam. I do like the sound of the halloumi, olive and pesto bagel (£2.95) and the salt beef bagel (£4.45) though.
Not feeling overly adventurous on this occasion, I went for the gourmet burger with American cheese (£5.45) served with skin-on fries (£1.45), homemade slaw (£1) and mustard mayo (50p).
The burger came wrapped in Bagel and Burger Kitchen-printed grease-proof paper, while the chips were in a paper bag.
On first impressions, both the burger and the skin-on fries looked irresistible. Served in a soft brioche bun, the burger was thick and meaty and topped with a slice of beef tomato and traditional relish.
It was very tasty indeed, although they had slightly overdone it on the relish and the cheese didn’t taste as good as it did on the American cheeseburger I ordered from Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
The skin-on fries were spot on. What more can be said about fries? Golden brown, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy, tasted great with sea salt, yada yada yada…
The mustard mayo was the perfect match for a cheeseburger and fries. I could definitely detect the mustard, but it wasn’t overpowering. The homemade slaw was crunchy and flavoursome, although I was quite surprised by how small the portion size was.
I enjoyed my takeaway from Bagel and Burger Kitchen, but it didn’t exactly blow me away. However, as the food is top quality and the menu pretty varied, I’ll probably end up ordering from here again. I am quite tempted to try one of the bagels, or maybe even take on the Krispy Kreme burger!

I have to admit those fries look amazing. It’s a shame there isn’t more variety with the bagels though. My favourite is pastrami and rocket with a honey and balsamic dressing. An interesting menu on the burgers but I think I may have to leave the Krispy Kreme burger for now!
Oh gosh this sounds fantastic! Both the meal and the fact you can get it delivered. We live in the middle of no where and can’t get anything delivered – ever.
I am a bit of a Deliveroo addict, I must admit. It’s not a good habit to have haha, just love ordering from them.

Those fries do look yummy, I wish we had more takeaway options round here but we are so limited. It nice to know that the quality is good and you would order again, even if you would go for something different
