I’ve ordered from a couple of personalised gifting websites in the past, but only too often, I find the range can be somewhat mundane and stereotypical. Think name-branded mugs, personalised beaded bracelets and maybe even a few dodgy destination T-shirts; the kind of tat you just can’t bear to throw away due to the sentimental value, yet know you’ll never be seen dead wearing or using ever again.

Personalised blanket
Not only will a travel-themed personalised blanket look great on my own bed at home, but as I usually travel with a light blanket to ensure I’m as warm and comfortable as possible when travelling on long journeys. it’ll be a valuable travel companion too.
Produced using an eco-friendly printing process, My Picture’s personalised blankets are ultra soft on both sides, with the non-printed side benefiting from a super-snuggly, premium plush fabric.
My Picture’s personalised blankets are available in three different sizes including 100cm x 70cm, 150cm x 100cm and 200cm x 150cm. I ordered the 150cm x 100cm size featuring a portrait-oriented image, so while my blanket isn’t quite big enough to cover my double bed, it’s ideal for snuggling up on the sofa.
After selecting your desired blanket size, you simply upload your chosen image, choose whether you’d prefer it to be printed in colour or black-and-white and adjust the image to ensure it fits within the print dimensions for the blanket, before adding it to your cart ready to check-out.
When it came to deciding on a photo to feature on my blanket, the decision was fairly easy for me. I’ve always reminisced fondly on my two visits to Grenada and, in particular, my visit to Grenada’s sister island, Carriacou. So, it seemed only right that my blanket should feature one of my favourite photos from my time in Carriacou – a shot of a local tour guide’s boat moored up on Paradise Beach, after our trip to nearby Sandy Island.
Travel photo book
Travel photo books have long been a ‘thing’ when it comes to gifts for travel lovers, but I’ll be the first to admit I’ve shunned them in the past, deeming them as too tacky or too much hassle to assemble.
Having ordered my very first photo book via My Picture, however, I now consider myself converted; in fact, I can’t believe I’ve never seen the appeal of this contemporary take on the traditional photo album until now.
Once you’ve got the photos you’d like to feature in your photo book edited and saved to a folder on your computer, it couldn’t be easier to create your photo book.
To begin with, choose what size you’d like your photo book to be. My Picture’s photo books are available in a range of dimensions and formats including 10×10, 1ox15, 13x13cm, A4 photo booklets and A5 ring binders.
Next, select your preferred design. There are lots to choose from; as my photo book was dedicated to my time in Sabah, Borneo I went for a tropical theme, fringed by palm trees.
You’ll then be asked whether you’d like your photo book to be produced using digital printing, as opposed to real photo paper. The main differences here are that digital printing is cheaper, and offers direct precision printing in a range of formats, whereas real photo paper allows for professional grade printing with exceptional depth of field and lay-flat binding for a seamless two-page spread.
Moving on, select the desired size for your photo book and indicate whether you’d prefer a hardcover, softcover, ring-bound or booklet format. Then, all that’s left to do is to upload and organise your photos, then sit back and wait for your photo book to arrive.
I couldn’t be happier with my Sabah photo book and it has pride of place on my coffee table at home, for all my visitors to flick through and admire. Eventually, I hope to get one made for all of my stand-out holidays and trips.

What’s the point in taking hundreds of photos while you’re on holiday, if they just end up living on your memory card or hard drive and getting forgotten about?
While digital photography can make for a much more convenient way to capture, store and view our photos, it also means that many of our photos simply only ever exist in digital format.
